A New Year’s Resolution for the Dogs

Are you making a resolution in the new year? More than half of all resolutions fail, but this year, yours doesn’t have to be one of them. Give yourself the best shot at success by setting a goal that’s doable – and meaningful too.

In 2021, resolve to go from a good pup parent to a GREAT one! As a dog parent, you’re responsible for every aspect of your pup’s care, health and safety – and there’s no better time to step up your game.

  • Great dog parents make sure their home is puppy-proofed and protected. They’re knowledgeable on which snacks are dangerous and which plants are toxic and keep them safely out of reach.

  • Great dog parents feed their pup a healthy, balanced diet. Talk to your vet about the nutritional needs of your dog, based on size, age, level of activity and breed. Remember to provide healthy treats rather than table scraps!

  • Great pup parents provide physical and mental exercise. Vets recommend at least 20 minutes of physical exercise per day to keep your dog healthy and happy.

  • Great dog moms and dads provide necessary veterinary care, both in an emergency and at annual wellness visits. They provide preventive care, like flea and tick prevention and necessary vaccines. They keep a pet first aid kit at the ready and are always prepared to provide the very best care for their four-legged family.

  • Great dog parents keep their fur family clean, comfortable and healthy. They get them the routine care they need, like baths, ear cleaning, nail clipping and teeth brushing, to keep their pup on the path to health and wellness. This is where Scenthound can help! We’ll handle your dog’s monthly maintenance, so you don’t have to think about it.

Once you settle on a resolution, the key to keeping it (and becoming a part of the tiny group of people that stick with it) is creating a foolproof plan on how to reach it.

In this case, the plan is simple – join the Monthly Clean Club! Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of maintenance: Skin, Coat, Ears, Nails, and Teeth. On our 1x month ‘E-scent-tials’ plan, you can bring in your dog once a month and on our unlimited plan, you can bring in your dog every single day if you’d like! Another pro tip – don’t keep your resolution a secret. A recent study on accountability found that you have a 65% of completing a goal if you commit to someone. When you make your goals public, like on social media, you get feedback you can use to keep yourself motivated!

Resolving to be the best pup parent possible is guaranteed to better the life of not only your pup, but your human family as well! It’s scientifically proven that dogs make us happier and healthier. A clean, healthy pup gets more love and snuggles – good for dogs and people alike.
